Richmond food-truck driver arrested in San Rafael hit-and-run

A Richmond man was arrested on suspicion of driving a big food truck into a San Rafael pedestrian and leaving the scene.

The incident occurred at about 6:15 in the afternoon Sun at the intersection of Kerner Blvd. and Larkspur Street in the Canal area. The pedestrian, a 34-year-old man, was taken to Marin General Hospital with major injuries.

Witnesses told police a big food truck struck the pedestrian while he was in a crosswalk, commented San Rafael police Sergeant Roy Leon.

Police went to his residence on Wednesday. Mata Reyes tried to escape by crawling out of a bedroom window, but police arrested him.

The pedestrian’s injuries were not life-threatening.
