IJ Forums: Is San Rafael ready for SMART?

Published Wednesday March 15

A simple question has gained steam as Natty trains chug into middle of the city San Rafael and plans continue for an extension to Larkspur next year:

Is San Rafael ready for SMART?

That question takes center stage in the newest session of IJ Forums, hosted by IJ political columnist Dick Spotswood. Guests are Michael Kadel, executive director of the Marin Economic Forum and a past chairman of the San Rafael Chamber of Commerce; and Jeffrey Rhoads, a San Rafael architect and executive director of Resilient Shore, a nonprofit aimed at flooding and sea-level rise in San Rafael.

Critics raised a chorus of opposition to a Larkspur extension during a March eight City Council session on the topic.
